So, 2,2 million subscribers, 278 million views and more than 439 videos later Maurício Meirelles is celebrating 10 years as a YouTuber.
Mauricio is a Brazilian writer and comedian. He is embarking on an international and national tour with his stand-up play, Webbullying. He has already taken it to Lisbon, London and Amsterdam. Now back home, he is currently on a national tour which will finish at the end of November this year.
The stand-up play is a 90-minute performance in which the comedian talks about controversial themes in a mature and shameless way. “I talk about religion, animal abuse, corruption, current issues and daily life,” he explains. In the final part of the play, Meirelles breaks theatre’s fourth wall with digital interactivity called webbullying, a phenomenon popular with his YouTube audience. He calls an audience member onto the stage and uses his/her social media profile (Facebook, WhatsApp, Tinder, Snapchat, etc.) and interacts with friends as if it’s the account holder.
